In late 2017, Meadville Mayor Lane Reed reached out to Jason Reiser, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, to inquire about the opportunity for Dollar General to provide Meadville citizens with fresh produce. After reviewing the mayor’s request, the Dollar General team remodeled the store in February 2018 to provide Franklin County residents with fresh produce.
