Company Launches New Scheduling Program in Response to Employee Feedback

At Dollar General, we remain committed to listening to and learning from our employees. In response to feedback from our store managers, the Company recently launched a new scheduling program, Store Manager (SM) Flex, that increases flexibility and improves work life balance.  DG’s nearly 19,000 Store Managers across the country now have more control over their work week schedules.

“Maintaining open lines of communication with our employees remains a top priority at Dollar General,” shared Kathy Reardon, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief people officer.  “When we received feedback from our store manager colleagues that many desired more flexibility in determining their schedule, we worked collaboratively to find a solution with SM Flex. We’re excited for this new program and are already hearing from team members about how it’s improving their overall DG employee experience.”

SM Flex offers store managers a simplified platform with various scheduling options aimed at increasing flexibility and efficiency, providing a more consistent work-week, as well as accommodating employees’ schedules based on their individual store and personal commitments.

Dollar General began testing SM Flex in 2021 with hundreds of store managers piloting the initiative and providing positive reviews of its implementation. Candidates interested in joining the Dollar General team may apply for available positions online at www.dollargeneral.com/careers.

“Having a special needs daughter is very difficult to find childcare I can trust,” shared Dollar General store manager Krysten M. “The flex program allows me to be at home with her and eliminate the worry while meeting the needs of my store. Thank you DG!”

“The Store Manager flex program has helped me balance my work life and home life so much better, shared Dollar General store manager Shelly H. “Thanks to this program, I'm able to attend more of my kids after school activities! “
