Dollar General recently announced a
partnership with the Big 12 Conference and ESPN Events to serve as the Official Discount Retail Sponsor for the Big 12 Conference throughout the 2017-2018 academic year.
As part of the partnership, Dollar General will serve as the exclusive sponsor for the Dollar General Big 12 Championship Tour, which hosts events at each of the 10 Big 12 Conference collegiate campuses throughout the season. Tailgating celebrations will include a former Big 12 Conference player to meet customers and sign autographs, a celebrity grill master, tailgate games, giveaways and prizes and the opportunity to see the new Big 12 Football Championship trophy. Festivities are in partnership with major Dollar General vendor partners and brands including Pringles®, Cheez-It® crackers, DiGiorno® pizza, Bounty® paper towels, Reese’s® chocolate, Dixie® paper products and Kingsford® charcoal.
Dollar General Big 12 Championship Tour Highlights
September 23 - Oklahoma State vs. Texas Christian University
As part of pre-game festivities for the matchup between Oklahoma State and Texas Christian University, fans had the chance to spend time with former Oklahoma State quarterback Clint Chelf and local chef James Adcock and the opportunity to see the new Big 12 Championship trophy in Stillwater.
September 30 - Kansas State vs. Baylor Game
Fans had the chance to meet Daniel Thomas, current Canadian Football League player and former NFL and Kansas State running back, as well as local chef Eric Harland. The Big 12 Championship trophy was also on hand for fans to enjoy.
October 7 - Kansas vs. Texas Tech Game
As part of festivities, fans enjoyed activities with major Dollar General vendor partners and brands including Pringles®, Cheez-It® crackers, DiGiorno® pizza, Bounty® paper towels, Reese’s® chocolate, Dixie® paper products and Kingsford® charcoal. Darrell Stuckey, former NFL and Kansas player, and local chef Matthew Cross were on hand to meet and greet fans. The event also featured tailgate games, giveaways and prizes and the opportunity to see the new Big 12 Championship trophy in Manhattan.
October 14 - Iowa State vs. Kansas
Football fans are some of the most loyal. Even rain didn't keep them away! During the Iowa State vs. Kansas football game, fans met Sage Rosenfels, former NFL and Iowa State player, and local chef Andy Groneman who were there to meet and greet fans. A few selfies were taken with the new Big 12 Championship trophy in Ames.
October 21 - Texas Christian University vs. Kansas
As part of festivities for the matchup between Texas Christian University and the University of Kansas, fans spent quality time with former TCU and NFL player Kenneth Davis and local chef Lori McLain. Frog Alley was quite lively, go team!
