Dollar General teams up with Georgia-Pacific Sparkle® Paper Towels, The Kids In Need Foundation® and Tennessee Titans Player Wesley Woodyard for Operation: Stock the Classroom
Dollar General recently partnered with Georgia-Pacific’s Sparkle® Paper Towels and The Kids in Need Foundation® to surprise students and teachers at Glencliff Elementary School in Nashville, Tennessee, with schools supplies for all students and teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. The event is a part of Operation: Stock the Classroom, an initiative aimed to ensure children are prepared to learn and succeed in the classroom by providing free school supplies to classrooms across the country and students most in need.
More than 700 teachers and students at Glencliff Elementary attended the event that included two special guests: Tennessee Titans player Wesley Woodyard and The Sparkle® Fairy!
The event also honored one special Glencliff Elementary School teacher who played a vital role in providing students with opportunities. The honored teacher received a Dollar General gift card valued at $564 (the average amount teachers spend from their own wallets to stock their classrooms) to help ease that financial burden. School supplies for the entire year including a pallet of Georgia-Pacific paper products, custom pencil packs and Dollar General coupons for all students in attendance were also donation.
The Sparkle® item donated to the school is the custom DG Sparkle® pack that highlights the Dollar General Literacy Foundation on the packaging and is available in stores. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation received a $25,000 donation from the Sparkle® team as part of their back-to-school program.
The Kids In Need Foundation®, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Sparkle® are also encouraging those interested in helping sponsor a teacher to visit SupplyAClassroom.org to locate and directly support classrooms that are meaningful to them. Donors can read personal statements from teachers and select to fund all or a portion of the supplies for a classroom, an entire school, or even a district or larger community.
