As we strive to increase affordable access to food through new stores and product availability, Dollar General recently partnered with Delish magazine and Mary Alice Cain, a registered dietician and nutritionist, to create five new Better For You recipes with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each recipe also includes recipe recommendations to make the dish “Better For You,” and the majority of ingredients for all recipes can be found at more than 19,000 Dollar General stores.
The Dollar General and Delish Better For You recipes can be found on the Dollar General Better For You website and include:
- Cranberry-Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwiches
- One Pot Broccoli Mac & Cheese
- Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili
- French Onion Mashed Potatoes
- Applesauce Overnight Oats
With approximately 75 percent of the U.S. population currently living within five miles of a DG, millions of Americans rely on Dollar General to provide convenient, affordable access to everyday, essential products, including items to make a nutritious meal.
Through Dollar General’s partnership with Delish, Mary Alice Cain also provided her insights and nutritional expertise with reporter Judy Brumley for Woman’s Day and Good Housekeeping. Cain shared ways parents can promote nutrition when cooking and emphasized how items can be added to make a dish even better for you. She also suggested that parents stock their kitchen with ingredients like whole grains, low-fat dairy, and healthier fats, to support good snacking habits.
Cain’s recommendations on tasty meals kids will love can be found on Woman’s Day.com, and her recommendations for easy snack options can be found on Good Housekeeping.com.
