500 list. Dollar General’s 21-place jump into the Top 100 reflects the company’s exceptional growth, which includes the Company’s $33.7 billion in sales in fiscal year 2020.

edition of Fortune
’s ranking of America’s 500 largest companies, which represent two-thirds of the U.S. economy. Fortune
recognized Dollar General’s jump as a reflection of shoppers being mindful of budgets during the pandemic, which resulted in a 21.6% net sales increase from fiscal year 2019 sales. 500 ranking of #91 in 2021 is up 21 spots from its previous position of #112 in 2020. DG has appeared on the prestigious list since its 2009 IPO.
Since its founding in 1939 as a wholesale venture between a father and son duo, Dollar General has grown into a major retailer with more than 17,400 stores in 46 states, 27 traditional and DG Fresh distribution centers and more than 157,000 employees.
