This week is National Adult Education and Family Literacy week. In honor of this week, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to celebrate the courage, determination and hard work of the thousands of adults across the country who are pursuing a brighter future for themselves and their families by increasing their education.
The Foundation’s relentless commitment to literacy and basic education are based on the belief that education is a great equalizer. It creates pathways to opportunities that help individuals pursue their dreams, increase their employability and extend their civic engagement.
Over the past 27 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $186 million to programs that have helped more than 12 million individuals. During this time when the pandemic has disrupted education, we remain unwavering in our commitment to being a champion for our neighbors, customers and family members of all ages who are learning to read, pursuing their high school diploma or learning English.
If you or someone you know would like to find a program in your hometown that can help strengthen reading skills or help with preparation for the high school equivalency, please visit www.dgliteracy.org for a referral to a program in your community.
