Mar 19, 2017

On Friday, March 17, the Tennessee State Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognized Dollar General with their Extraordinary Support Award for the company’s continued commitment to the employment of National Guard and Reserve service members.

“It was a proud moment to represent Dollar General for this rare and prestigious award,” said Bob Ravener, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief people officer. “While we all know that members of the military do their part to protect and defend the nation, at Dollar General, we also know that they make great employees. That’s why we hired over five thousand military veterans since the beginning of 2016 as part of ongoing commitment to bring the best candidates into the company.”

Created to recognize ongoing employer support of National Guard and Reserve service, this prestigious award is given only to former recipients of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award or the Pro Patria Award, who have demonstrated continued support are eligible for consideration.

“I value the partnership our committee has with Dollar General Corporation and it is my opinion that this great organization is more than worthy of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Extraordinary Employer Support Award,” said Carl Lambert, Tennessee ESGR Chair.
