Support United Through Reading with a Summer Sweet Treat

Now available exclusively at Dollar General – Flav-Vor-Ice Patriot Pops! Flav-Vor-Ice Patriot Pops are available for $2 and include 20 pops in three flavors: strawberry, tropical punch and berry punch. The red, white and blue pops make for an easy summer snack, just freeze and serve! To make the tasty treats even sweeter, a portion of the proceeds will benefit United Through Reading, a national partner for the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Reading aloud to children has proven results on their vocabulary, literacy acquisition and family bonding. This important bonding moment for families should not be missed because a loved one is away on military service. To make sure those important moments still occur, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has partnered with United Through Reading to provide reading and recording libraries to 150 United States military bases and ships around the globe so the men and women in the Armed Forces can record themselves reading a story to their loved ones. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has served as the nonprofit’ Books for Ownership sponsor since 2018. 

Last year, Dollar General partnered with United Through Reading to pack 1,500 backpacks for military children and 150 book libraries for service members at UTR Story Stations around the world. Furthermore, Dollar General presented an additional $150,000 donation to United Through Reading.
