EVP of Store Operations Named Gold Winner in Operations Executive of the Year Category

Dollar General is pleased to announce Steve Sunderland, executive vice president of store operations, was named a gold winner in the 2021 Operations Executive of the Year category by Best in Biz Awards for his leadership during 2020.
 
“Steve and his team lead DG’s efforts to keep our customers, employees and communities safe while continuing to deliver outstanding customer service,” said Jeff Owen, Dollar General’s chief operating officer. “Amid uncertain times, DG served as an essential retailer, and we took the responsibility to serve customers even more seriously. Steve’s leadership helped set the tone for our teams to keep stores open for those who depended on us.  Steve and his team also led our real estate efforts as we completed 2,780 store projects and expanded into Washington in fiscal year 2020. We are grateful to Steve for his leadership and to his teams for their hard work and commitment to serve our communities.”
 
The Best in Biz Awards is the only independent business awards program judged annually by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier media publications in North America. This year’s competition marked the 11th year with more than 700 entries from public and private companies of all sizes spanning all geographic regions and industries in the U.S. and Canada.
