In-Store Toy Drives and St. Jude Thanks and Giving® Campaign Reflect Company’s Purpose-Driven Mission

Dollar General is hosting two in-store collection campaigns and providing corporate donations to illustrate its mission of Serving Others and support its hometown communities.

“This holiday season, we are pleased to partner with St. Jude and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to spread hope, healing and happiness,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “We hope these partnerships spread joy to children and families across our hometown communities.”

Now through December 3, customers may donate new toys at their local Dollar General store, which will benefit either a local toy drive or the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Each store’s manager chooses the recipient organization of the toy drive with donated items distributed in the local community. Dollar General is also providing a $100,000 donation to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to support and further their efforts.

Dollar General is also collecting in-store donations now through December 17 to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Thanks and Giving® campaign, which aims to share the organization’s mission and encourages shoppers from all over the country to make a holiday donation to the nonprofit. Since 2006, Dollar General and customers’ in-store donations have provided more than $30 million to support St. Jude’s life-saving childhood cancer research.

The Company is also providing St. Jude with a $125,000 donation and hosting Santa’s Workshop on its Memphis, Tennessee campus for patients and their siblings to help make the holidays a little brighter. Attendees receive free toys and gift cards, participate in fun crafts, enjoy snacks, laugh and receive a visit from a few special friends. For patients unable to attend, special gift bags full of toys and holiday cheer are created and delivered to their rooms.
