GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., January 27, 2005 - Leslie Parrish, a homemaker and mother of four from Raceland, Louisiana, has never won anything in her life, let alone a new car.
That all changes today when she drives home a brand new Mustang Convertible GT off the parking lot of Dollar General.
"I've filled out a sweepstakes entry form here and there, but I've never won anything like this!" exclaimed Leslie, a frequent shopper of the Dollar General store on Highway 1 in Raceland. "I was shocked. Honestly, I didn't believe it until I got the papers."
Leslie's odds were literally one in millions as her name was randomly selected from more than 214 million entries received during the "Drive Off a Winner" promotion sponsored jointly by Dollar General and Clorox. The promotion that ran from May through November also awarded trips for two to the Daytona 500 race and $25 Dollar General gift certificates.
"We're so pleased that a Raceland shopper won the grand prize," said Fianu Gbedema, Dollar General's regional manager who oversees the Raceland store. "Dollar General is all about delivering convenience, and this prize is a gift of convenience for Leslie. This car will give her a lot more flexibility in running errands and doing shopping when her husband drives the family's only other car to work."
