Here for What Matters During Pride Month
Jun 01, 2024
At the core of Dollar General’s mission of Serving Others is the belief a diverse workplace and inclusive culture foster an environment where customers, employees and communities alike can feel empowered. We live by our core values of respecting the dignity and differences of others and celebrating success and recognizing the contribution of others every day.
During June’s Pride Month and throughout the year, we are proud to recognize our LGBTQIA+ employee resource group, EQUAL, and their allies, alongside our customers and community members whose unique perspectives enrich our hometowns. Throughout our organization, we strive to create an environment where every individual feels valued, comfortable bringing their authentic self to work, knows their difference makes a difference and feels empowered to grow their careers.
Dollar General’s EQUAL Employee Resource Group (ERG)
DG demonstrates inclusion through the Company’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which are organized to leverage differences, promote awareness, provide a stronger connection to our hometown communities and build a more inclusive culture consistent with the Company’s mission and core values.
DG’s EQUAL ERG is dedicated to promoting awareness and building mutual trust and respect for the Company’s LGBTQIA+ team members and allies. To celebrate Pride, EQUAL is hosting booths at the Dallas and Nashville Pride events.
“EQUAL is an essential part of my contribution to Dollar General’s mission of Serving Others,” said Trish S., EQUAL’s vice president. “It gives me the opportunity to foster community and advocacy in our shared LGBTQIA+ experiences and engage other ERG’s and employees in allyship. Being a leader in EQUAL brings visibility to the ERG’s many contributions and empowers me to support the careers of LGBTQIA+ team members at Dollar General.”
Dallas and Nashville Pride Celebrations
EQUAL plans to celebrate at the Dallas (June 1-2) and Nashville (June 22-23) celebrations this month.
“Being the main gate sponsor at the Nashville Pride festivals means for the people filing in at the front of the festival, we’re the first company that they see,” said Jason B., EQUAL President “It makes me proud to see our company represented so prominently.”
