#GivingTuesday at Dollar General

Nov 28, 2016

Tuesday is #GivingTuesday!

The National Day of Giving is dedicated to giving back to local communities and organizations on Tuesday, November 29. This year, Dollar General and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation are helping rebuild public school libraries impacted by natural disaster, giving hope through St. Jude Thanks & Giving campaign and helping make the holidays bright with local toy drives.

To make giving back easier, Dollar General stores are now collecting donations to support the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign, which aids St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the global leader in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other deadly diseases. Stores are also collecting toys to benefit local toy drives and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, as well as funds to support the Dollar General Literacy Foundation that works to further literacy and education in the communities Dollar General calls home.
Additionally, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation plans to provide three Denham Springs, Louisiana schools recently affected by devastating floods each with a $20,000 Beyond Words grant to support rebuilding the school’s library on Tuesday. Dollar General and the American Association of School Librarians established the Beyond Words grant program in 2006 to provide funding to schools affected by disasters to assist in rebuilding and expanding library media programs.
