Dollar General Uses Technology to Help Customers Save during Back to School

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.— August 6, 2013— With the launch of Dollar General’s new “Ride the Bus” Facebook application today, the nation’s largest small-box retailer continues using technology to provide shoppers “SMART” savings on everything for the back to school season. The new application is in addition to Dollar General’s text program, which allows customers to text SMART to 34898 to receive a weekly discount coupon. (Standard text and data rates may apply as part of the text-to-save program.)
Available to Facebook users who “like” Dollar General, the application gives users a hands-on and interactive opportunity to “ride the bus” to additional savings off Dollar General’s everyday low prices for items both in stores and online.
Dollar General’s “SMART” back to school program provides great deals on everything needed to start the new academic year including school supplies, décor for college students, uniforms and fall fashions, everything for affordable and convenient school-week meals and items to get and stay organized for the year.
Additional week-specific deals can be found in the new Back to School catalog available at nearly 11,000 Dollar General locations throughout the 40 states it serves through September 14.
