Nov 21, 2017

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday season, Dollar General has donated $250,000 to 27 schools and nonprofits as part of its new “Thanks Giving” campaign. The contributions are intended to support education and literacy in the communities our stores and distribution centers call home.

Included below are photos of teachers, students and staff receiving their “Thanks Giving” gifts from Dollar General representatives. Their excitement and cheer are why we continue to stay dedicated to our mission of Serving Others every day!

“This was such an AWESOME DAY,” exclaimed District Manager James Whitehead. “To be able to promote the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and support local schools in my district is definitely one of the top moments for me in my 15 years with this company. The school put together an assembly for us to present the gift; however, no one knew what they were receiving. It was a total surprise and shock to the kids and faculty. Numerous teachers were in tears.”
