Major discount retailer is one of the founding signatories to the President’s First Job Compact

– Dollar General (NYSE: DG) today signed the White House First Job Recruiting and Hiring Compact
in support of President Obama’s call to action for communities and businesses to help connect out-of-school, out-of-work youth (Opportunity Youth) to their first jobs. As part of its commitment, Dollar General will enhance its partnerships with high school and workforce development centers with the goal of hiring approximately 1,000 Opportunity Youth candidates over the next 12 months at its distribution centers and stores.

Dollar General is partnering with employment opportunity centers across America to help workers between the ages of 18 and 24 transition into the workforce with first-time job opportunities. As a founding member of the First Job Compact, Dollar General will continue to execute on this work with a focus on recruiting, hiring and training Opportunity Youth.
