Apr 13, 2017
On April 11, Dollar General South Boston Distribution Center employees, company executives and community officials gathered to celebrate the facility’s 20th anniversary! Located in Halifax County, Virginia, the distribution center and its employees have played a vital role connecting customers across the Southeast with quality merchandise in every store it serves, every day.
“The South Boston team spent the last three months preparing for our 20 year celebration,” said LaShaun Hardy, senior human resources manager. “During the event, we recognized 39 employees who have served 20 years with the facility. DG Pride was in full effect on April 11th!”
Over the past 20 years as Dollar General has grown from 2,700 to 13,000 stores, the South Boston Distribution Center has grown as well. Workforce has expanded approximately 75 percent to now include 485 employees.
“The leadership team worked to ensure that all of our employees understood that they were appreciated for their hard work and dedication,” detailed Hardy. “Our employees were impressed that Chief Executive Officer Todd Vasos, Chief People Officer Bob Ravener and others took the time to visit the distribution center and helped to serve lunch.”
Working as a team with the common mission of Serving Others has empowered South Boston and contributed to Dollar General’s success. Dollar General thanks the employees at the South Boston Distribution Center for their years of service to the company and to our customers.
