Mother’s Day Promotion Invites Consumers to Share Why Their Moms Are Heroes
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.--(
In partnership with Coca-Cola®, Kellogg® and Procter & Gamble® (P&G), Dollar General has embarked on a month-long campaign to thank moms in communities where Dollar General customers live. To celebrate Mother’s Day, the company is inviting customers to upload videos describing why their moms are “Every Day Heroes.” Videos can be submitted and viewed at www.dollargeneral.com/everydayheroes.
“Dollar General is pleased to honor moms everywhere through the ‘Every Day Heroes’ program,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief merchandising officer. “Mary Gail Emery truly embodies the Dollar General ‘Every Day Hero’ through her perseverance in the face of adversity, commitment to family and commitment to volunteerism.”
Emery is a single mother of two children. She coaches her 15-year-old-daughter’s basketball team and serves as a volunteer coach for other AAU and YMCA basketball teams. In addition to coaching, she provides rides to other children who would be unable to participate in sports programs without Emery’s assistance. Emery holds a full-time job and also does part-time work.
"Being a mom is the most important part of who I am,” Emery said. “Through my coaching, I love the role that I can play to inspire youth to stay active with sports while encouraging and mentoring them to keep up with their school work.”
In addition to her community coaching, Emery is a volunteer for “Meals on Wheels” and volunteers to do yard work and clean-up for senior citizens in neighborhoods around Atlanta.
