Dollar General Provides $50,000 to Support American Red Cross Efforts

Support to Communities Impacted by Hurricane Laura Includes Donation and In-Store Collections

Goodlettsville, Tennessee – September 2, 2020 – To support the relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Laura, Dollar General (NYSE: DG) announces plans to support the American Red Cross with a $50,000 corporate donation. The Company is also accepting in-store collections at more than 16,700 Dollar General stores now through September 11, 2020, to benefit the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Laura Relief efforts.

“Those impacted by Hurricane Laura remain in our thoughts, and as an extension of our mission of Serving Others, we are working to provide resources to the American Red Cross and help bring aid to those affected by the storm,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO. “We understand the aftermath of the hurricane coupled with the ongoing pandemic can add additional stress to the communities we call home. We are hopeful these funds can aid the American Red Cross in providing much-needed support for individuals and families recovering in its wake.”

Vasos added, “We have remained in touch with our employees in Laura’s path to understand the storm’s impact and are ready to support our employees through funds provided by the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation.  The communities impacted by Laura are resilient, and we stand together with our employees, customers and communities to respond to damage caused by the storm.”

Dollar General recently announced a $5 million donation to the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation to help commemorate the nonprofit’s 15th anniversary. Founded in 2005, the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation (DGEAF) provides financial assistance to help employees during their time of need. 

For nearly two decades, Dollar General has partnered with the American Red Cross through corporate and in-store collections to better support the organization’s recovery efforts and serve communities in their time of need.
