Feb 13, 2018

Congratulations to the Dollar General training team for its recognition among the top five best companies for training and development by Training magazine! The magazine recently recognized Dollar General’s comprehensive training and development program in its Training Top 125 list for the seventh consecutive year. This year, Dollar General ranked fifth overall.

“Our ongoing commitment is to provide our employees with opportunities to gain new skills, develop their talents and advance with the company,” said Bob Ravener, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief people officer. “Our results are reflected in our strong internal promotion and placement rates. At Dollar General, our ongoing investment in talent development is essential to fulfill the leadership needs of our rapidly growing business.”

According to Training magazine, the Top 125 ranking is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantative factors, including financial investment in employee training and development, the scope of training programs, how closely training and development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives, and their effectiveness in terms of business impact.

In addition to the top five ranking, Dollar General's senior manager of training and development, Samantha Wilson, was awarded the Top 5 Emerging Leaders award.

"Samantha has changed perceptions of training and development, said Lori Bremer, senior director of training and development. "Samantha excels at using her trusted relationships with various business partners to provide creative solutions and innovations."

The winners were announced during the Training 2018 Conference & Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia on February 12, 2018.
