Dollar General Partners with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville for 17th Consecutive Year
May 10, 2024
At Dollar General, we remain committed to serving our greater Nashville hometown community and recently demonstrated our mission of Serving Others with our partners at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville for the 17th consecutive year. During the past month, approximately 80 Dollar General employees volunteered more than 500 hours to help provide neighbors in need with safe and affordable housing.
“We are proud to help Nashville families in need gain access to homeownership and provide a secure place for their families to live,” shared Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “Partnering with Habitat for the past 17 years has been incredibly rewarding for the Company and our employees alike, and we are grateful to collectively make a positive difference in our hometown community.”
In 2024, employees from the Company’s Store Support Center volunteered to build homes in Habitat’s single-family neighborhood, Village by the Creek, in North Nashville. In addition to supporting the homes’ constructions, Dollar General also donated housewarming baskets filled with DG products to celebrate recipients’ new homeownership.
Habitat Humanity of Greater Nashville was established in 1985 and since then has welcomed 1,000 new homeowners, including 2,209 children who are now in safer homes and living healthier lives. The organization builds new, quality and attainable homes for hardworking men and women in five Middle Tennessee counties including Davidson, Wilson, Cheatham, Dickson and Robertson.
