Dollar General Offers Additional 10 Percent off on Volume Toy Purchases

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., Dec 09, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Lending a hand to charitable causes, Dollar General is offering an additional 10 percent discount on volume toy purchases of $250 or more starting today, December 9, at all 8,300 Dollar General stores.

The additional discount, taken off the lowest sale price, is designed to facilitate charitable holiday toy drives. Dollar General is a national sponsor of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots toy drive, contributing $375,000 over the last three years, including $125,000 this year. Dollar General stores collect more than a million toys a year for the Toys for Tots campaign as well as other local toy drives.

"We appreciate the generosity of our customers and want to support their charitable donations by offering an additional discount of 10 percent," said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO of Dollar General. "This is the season to share, and we are proud to be a part of the effort to help those who are less fortunate."

Dollar General offers a wide variety of toys for kids of all ages, and 80 percent of its toys are sold for $10 or less. The volume discount offer applies to all toys. Electronics, such as DVD and MP3 players, are excluded. The discount is good until December 24 at all Dollar General stores.
