Dollar General is Here for What Matters During the Holidays

Nov 30, 2022

Each year, Dollar General district manager Ron Leach finds purpose and solace while supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital fundraising efforts. Years earlier, Leach tragically lost his daughter, and since the inception of Dollar General and St. Jude’s partnership in 2006, Leach and his eastern Kentucky team have perennially supported the Company’s philanthropic works to benefit St. Jude.

Ron, who will celebrate his 40th anniversary with Dollar General in January 2023, has generated more than $1 million from in-store donations together with his eastern Kentucky team to benefit St. Jude.

"It was a sign that I, as a leader, needed at the time, shared Ron. "I am blessed to have a team that has wrapped their arms around this cause."

As Dollar General is here for what matters during the holiday season, the Company is also serving others in various ways this holiday season through the following initiatives:

St. Jude
In support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Thanks and Giving® campaign, Dollar General is collecting in-store donations from November 18 through December 16.

Toys for Tots
Between November 18 and December 9, customers may donate toys at each DG to benefit an organization either a local nonprofit or the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.   Each store’s manager chooses the toy drive recipient organization. Dollar General is also honored to provide a $100,000 donation to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to further support their efforts.

Santa’s Workshop
Dollar General’s Store Support Center in Goodlettsville, Tennessee and all distribution centers will host a Santa’s Workshop.  These events provide holiday toys for local children and families in need.

Weeks of Kindness
Dollar General recently launched its Weeks of Kindness campaign across its network of nearly 19,000 stores and distribution centers. This campaign encourages employee volunteer engagement with local community charities focused on nourishing the mind, body and planet. Since the launch, Dollar General has donated $26,000 dollars with employees volunteering more than 800 hours to hometown charities.
