Dollar General Expands Sarah Fisher IndyCar Sponsorship To Six Races; Texas And Miami Presidents Weigh In

April 27, 2009

Discount retailer adds Texas and Miami races

Kansas City, KS (April 26, 2009) - Dollar General announced today their sponsorship expansion of IndyCar Series driver and team owner Sarah Fisher of Sarah Fisher Racing, LLC (SFR) in 2009. The discount retailer will sponsor Fisher at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS), in addition to their sponsorship of Fisher at Kansas, Indianapolis, Kentucky and Chicago.

The sponsorship expansion means Fisher will now compete in all of the IndyCar Series SuperSpeedway events in 2009.

"Dollar General is pleased to add two additional races to our sponsorship of Sarah Fisher and SFR," said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "Sarah's determination and devotion to the sport is an inspiration to us all. It is with great pleasure that Dollar General increases its support of Sarah and her team as they pursue their goals."

The announcement follows the kick-off of Dollar General's "Ticket to the Indy 500" sweepstakes, which began April 11 and ends May 10, 2009. The sweepstakes will award 10 grand prize packages that each include two tickets to the Indy 500 on May 24, 2009 and a meeting with Sarah Fisher prior to the race.

"I'm so ecstatic that Dollar General will be helping us get to Texas and Miami," said Fisher, who will start 11th in today's Road Runner Turbo Indy 300. "To think this partnership began in mid-2008 and has grown to this caliber is a true testament to how much Sarah Fisher Racing has grown. We are continually humbled by our family of partners which has allowed us to take steps towards reaching our goals."

The addition of Texas and Miami to Fisher's 2009 schedule doubles SFR's presence from 2008. Last season, the team got their start in the IndyCar Series at Indianapolis and finished up at Kentucky and Chicagoland Speedway.

Fisher noted that adding both Texas and Miami have great meaning to her as a driver.

"I took my rookie test at TMS back in 1999, and to compete there again makes me very happy because it will be my first start there as a team owner," said Fisher. "When I first visited TMS at age 19, I never dreamed that I'd return one day as a team owner. And, to go to Miami is very special to me, as well, because it's the home of my best IndyCar Series finish: second! I'll never forget that day."

Texas Motor Speedway President, Eddie Gossage, is more than overjoyed that Fisher will return to his track where her IndyCar Series career began.

"Sarah Fisher is one of the most talented race car drivers in IndyCar racing and we're thrilled to see her return to the place where her IndyCar Series career started," said Gossage. "She is a legitimate fan favorite and won the IndyCar series most popular driver award three years in a row. Next to the Indy 500, the Bombardier Learjet 550k draws the second-largest crowd of the IndyCar season so plenty of fans are excited about her return to 'The Great American Speedway!'"

With her best IndyCar Series finish coming at Homestead-Miami Speedway, track President Curtis Gray welcomes her back with open arms.

"What an honor that Sarah will be on track for a very special IndyCar Series Championship finale here at Homestead-Miami Speedway," said Gray. "Sarah is a racing pioneer who has made a lot of history in her career: the first woman to finish runner-up in a major-league open-wheel race, when she placed second here at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2001; the first North American woman to win the pole position for a major-league open-wheel race; the first female driver in the 21st century to drive a Formula One car. So it's more than fitting that she be a part of the Oct. 10 IndyCar Series Championship in Miami, as we make motorsports history as the first and only track ever to host all of North America's premier motorsports championships-IndyCar, NASCAR and Grand-Am Sports Cars."

The IndyCar Series kicks off the oval racing part of the 2009 IndyCar Series schedule today at Kansas Speedway for the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300. The race will be shown live in High Definition (HD) on the VERSUS (VS) Network at 4:00 p.m. (EDT). Additional coverage will be available on the IMS Radio Network, XM Satellite Radio's "IndyCar Racing" channel 145 and Sirius channel 126, with broadcast coverage summaries available at www.indycar.com and www.sarahfisher.com.
