On Monday, September 25, Lucas Holliday, an employee at store #10261 in Lansing, Michigan, catapulted his singing career to center stage of NBC’s television show The Voice.

During the first round of blind auditions, Lucas sang R&B singer Maxwell’s song “This Woman’s Work” which earned him a place on singer Jennifer Hudson’s team. Hudson and Holliday went on to sing Hillsong Worship’s “God is Able” as a duet.

“Everything about Lucas is just so interesting,” noted Hudson during the show. “He is everything that the show called The Voice represents.”

Last November, Lucas became an internet sensation when he was recorded singing a rendition of Maxwell's song "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)" while helping customers at Dollar General. The YouTube video gained Lucas national attention from publications such as Huffington Post, Today.com, NBCChicago.com and Good Morning America. Maxwell even took notice and invited Lucas to join him on stage to sing during a Detroit tour stop.

“Lucas is such a humble person,” complimented district manager Kathy Elsesser. “It has been wonderful for customers to experience his talents and now people outside the community get the same opportunity. We are very proud of him and wish him the best of luck on The Voice.”

On Season 13 of The Voice, the lineup of judges includes singers Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. Contestants from all over the country compete in blind auditions for the top 48 spots and will go on to sing for the chance to win a recording contract.
