Dollar General Donates $2,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Volunteers from Dollar General’s store support center in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, celebrated a Day of Service at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Dollar General employees helped sort food for distribution to the community, and members of the African-American employee resource group presented $2,500 to the organization to recognize February’s Black History Month.
“Our employees were thrilled to be at Second Harvest again this year to help sort and package food for our community,” said Bethany Mason, Dollar General director of diversity and inclusion. “Serving Others is our company mission, and we are thankful to have a day of service dedicated to supporting this organization and recognizing and celebrating Black History Month.”
Volunteers packaged 9,939 pounds of food, which equates to approximately 8,280 meals. The $2,500 donation will provide approximately 10,000 meals. In the last year alone, Dollar General has donated more than $40,000 to Second Harvest, and more than 150 employees have volunteered with the organization.
