Dollar General Celebrates 15th Partnership Anniversary with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville

DG Employees Volunteer 500+ Hours to Help Build 26 Townhomes in June 2022
In living out Dollar General’s mission of Serving Others, the Company partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville for the 15th consecutive year to aid the organization in providing affordable homes to Nashvillians in need.
“At Dollar General, we understand the significant impact a secure place to live has on a family’s livelihood and are proud to once again partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to help our neighbors gain access to safe housing,” shared Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “For 15 years, we’ve been grateful to support our Habitat partners to contribute to offering hope and strength to deserving recipients and make a positive impact throughout our hometown.”
In June 2022, approximately 60 Dollar General employees volunteered more than 500 hours to help build 26 townhomes in the Sherwood Commons development in North Nashville, Tennessee, which was Habitat of Greater Nashville’s first townhome
community.
“With approximately 2,400 DG volunteers over the last 15 years, Dollar General’s partnership has positively impacted not just the 15 hardworking Nashvillians who are now homeowners, but also the lives of over 700 Habitat homeowners in the Nashville area who received customized housewarming baskets when they closed on their homes, “ shared Lauren Lane Payne, Habitat of Greater Nashville’s senior vice president of philanthropy. “The Company’s intentional partnership and consistent volunteerism is a testament to their culture and heavy involvement in their hometown communities. We are grateful for great partners like Dollar General who help Habitat of Greater Nashville achieve our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.”
Dollar General also presented Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville with an additional $25,000 in fall 2021 as the Company’s Employer’s Choice recipient, in which area employees voted on a nonprofit to receive additional funding.
Habitat of Greater Nashville was established in 1985 and has built, recycled, or renovated more than 1,363 homes, nearly 1,000 homes locally, and has served more than 3,429 family members, including 2,160 children.
