Dollar General Bowl Week!

On Saturday, December 23, 2017, the University of Toledo and Appalachian State University met at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama to play in the second Dollar General Bowl! Leading up and during Dollar General Bowl week, the company took part in many events throughout the community.
December 23:
Dollar General, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated and the USO partnered to invite 350 military veterans to a USO Buffet, an event to celebrate and show gratitude toward the military community, to kick off Bowl Day.
Bowl Day festivities continued at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on the iHeart Radio Stage as fans were able to gear up for kick off with a pre-game concert featuring Holli Moseley.
At halftime, Dollar General presented the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation with a $100,000 donation for its holiday efforts. Dollar General also presented an additional $10,000 donation to the local Toys for Tots group in Mobile, Alabama.
December 22:
Dollar General members met with former Oklahoma coach, Bob Stoops, before executive vice president of store operations, Jeff Owen, provided remarks during a press conference at the USO Mayor’s Luncheon Presented by Coca-Cola®. Later in the evening, the Dollar General team attended the AL.com Mardi Gras Parade Street Party Pep Rally in downtown Mobile! (Fun fact: Mobile is the birthplace of Mardi Gras!)
December 20:
Dollar General and Dollar General Bowl representatives joined the teams and players of Toledo and Appalachian State at the University of South Alabama’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital to spread some holiday cheer! Patients loved meeting and getting to know the players who gave them a gift bag from Dollar General.
The Dollar General Bowl Wives Day Out event kicked off with lunch and ended with a Duck Boat Tour of downtown Mobile. Dollar General provided gift bags and gift cards to welcome the wives to the Port City for Dollar General Bowl Week!
December 19:
Dollar General along with Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson welcomed the Toledo Rockets and Appalachian State Mountaineers to Mobile on Tuesday evening with a press conference and shrimp boil!
November 16:
The fun of Serving Others continued in Mobile as Dollar General surprised two local elementary schools and three nonprofit organizations with early holiday gifts. Each organization was elated to see that the surprise included a $2,000 donation, Dollar General gift cards to purchase needed supplies and complementary tickets to attend the Dollar General Bowl!
November 15:
Dollar General Representatives attended the Bowl’s Community Awards Banquet to honor the students’ art contest and scholarship recipients. As a part of the company’s mission of Serving Others and community focus on literacy and education, Dollar General awarded three area students with a total of $2,000 in scholarships.
