Last week, Dollar General representatives surprised the Izard County Consolidated School District in Brockwell, Arkansas with $50,000!

The donation was presented in a black box topped with yellow bow and was met with cheers of delight from students, faculty and staff. As part of Dollar General’s Reading Revolution program, the donation aims to provide the district with additional funding to purchase books, technology programs, computers and other educational tools to enhance reading and literacy programs.

“As Izard County Consolidated School District starts a new semester, Dollar General is proud to provide funding to help support their district’s literacy efforts,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “We hope these funds will help the district’s efforts to ensure all students have access to the literacy instructional programs and resources they need to experience the joy of reading.”

Earlier this month Dollar General also presented a $50,000 Reading Revolution donation to Alpine Independent School District in Alpine, Texas. Since its inception in 2013, the Reading Revolution program has provided more than $4.1 million to schools.
