Santa Clause came early for many metro Nashville students in the form of book bags filled with school supplies through an event hosted by Dollar General and the Nashville Coca-Cola Consolidated facility. The “Christmas in July” event was held on Friday, July 28 at Dollar General’s new store in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
“Dollar General has a strong focus on our mission of Serving Others and enhancing literacy and education through the communities we serve,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s senior director of community initiatives. “We’re excited to partner with Coca-Cola Consolidated to help support students as they begin the 2017-2018 school year and provide the supplies they need to build an exceptional year of learning.”
The first 400 students from the area received complimentary backpacks filled with supplies provided by Dollar General and Coca-Cola Consolidated. Supplies included pencils, notebooks, markers, glue sticks and more.
“On behalf of our teammates at the Nashville Coca-Cola Consolidated facility, we are so grateful to be a part of the Christmas in July program with Dollar General. We are proud to support our local students and wish them the best during the upcoming school year,” said Shimeka Gordon, Coca-Cola Consolidated Nashville plant manager.
