Christmas Arrives Early at Dollar General

Discount retailer makes it easy and affordable for customers to
stretch their holiday budgets by shopping early

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn., Oct 21, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Christmas arrives early this year at more than 8,300 Dollar General stores in 35 states. The discount retailer is making it easy for customers to get a jump on holiday bargains starting now.

Christmas began arriving at Dollar General stores in early October, and bargains galore await early holiday shoppers. In addition to everyday low prices, Dollar General offers gift wrap and wrapping accessories that start at $1, home decor and tabletop accessories starting at $1 and a line of greeting cards priced at two for $1.

"High gas prices and other economic pressures mean many customers are planning ahead for the holidays," said Kathleen Guion, Dollar General's division president of store operations and store development. "We want to help them stretch their budgets by offering holiday deals earlier this year."

A wide assortment of holiday-themed items, including toys, gifts, home decor, gift wrap, seasonal food and baking essentials will be fully-stocked in all Dollar General stores by the end of the month.
