Fortune 500
Dollar General proudly announces its #91 ranking among the 2021 Fortune 500 list. Dollar General’s 21-place jump into the Top 100 reflects the company’s exceptional growth, which includes the Company’s $33.7 billion in sales in fiscal year 2020.

“Our movement into Fortune magazine’s Top 100 reflects the Dollar General team’s commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and our communities over the course of 2020, helping us grow and further highlighting our focus as a  purpose-driven company,” said Todd Vasos, chief executive officer of Dollar General. “I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the entire DG team for their dedication to our business and their continual focus on our mission and values. We remain confident in our business model, which we believe demonstrates the unique combination of value and convenience and positions us well for the future.”

Often referred to as the ultimate business scorecard, 2021 marks the 67th edition of Fortune’s ranking of America’s 500 largest companies, which represent two-thirds of the U.S. economy.

Fortune recognized Dollar General’s jump as a reflection of shoppers being mindful of budgets during the pandemic, which resulted in a 21.6% net sales increase from fiscal year 2019 sales. Additionally, the publication highlighted DG’s increased focus on fresh food offerings and the rollout of pOpshelf, the Company’s new-format store.
