A Grand Opening – Texas Style

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, nearly 1,000 people including Dollar General employees and their families, company executives and officials gathered inside the new San Antonio distribution center to mark the facility’s official grand opening.  Participants enjoyed lunch, toured the 930,000-square-foot facility and enjoyed children’s festivities.
 
Located in Bexar County, the San Antonio distribution center represents a local investment of approximately $100 million and the creation of more than 500 local jobs. 
 
“Dollar General is excited to celebrate the grand opening of our San Antonio distribution center,” said Todd Vasos, chief executive officer of Dollar General.  “Our new distribution center in Texas represents is necessary to keep up with our rapid store growth and is another opportunity to help our stores better serve our customers.  We also look forward to a longstanding partnership with the San Antonio community as we continue to be focused on our mission of Serving Others.”
 
The San Antonio DC began shipping products in February 2016 and is currently scheduled to serve more than 800 stores in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. With the completion of this project, Dollar General now has more than 1,000 store and distribution center employees in Bexar County.
 
Dollar General’s other distribution centers are located in Bethel, Pennsylvania; Scottsville, Kentucky; Ardmore, Oklahoma; South Boston, Virginia; Indianola, Mississippi; Fulton, Missouri; Jonesville, South Carolina; Alachua, Florida; Zanesville, Ohio; Marion, Indiana; Bessemer, Alabama and Lebec, California. The company is also under construction for a new distribution center in Janesville, Wisconsin and plans to break ground on its 15th center in Jackson, Georgia later this year.
