GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (May 21, 2012) – Dollar General is pleased to announce that Gayle Aertker, senior vice president of real estate and store development, has been appointed as the International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) Tennessee retail chair.
“This is a tremendous, well-deserved honor for Gayle,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “She is one of the brightest and best in her field. Her leadership skills and retail expertise will be a true asset to the ICSC in the coming year.”
In her new volunteer role as Tennessee retail chair, Aertker will serve as the voice of the retail community within the ICSC. Her duties include identifying the needs of the retail sector of the industry and helping develop special programs exclusive to the retail community.
“ICSC is delighted to welcome Gayle into this new leadership role,” said Gar Herring, ICSC Southern Division Vice President. “Her enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to the success of ICSC and the retail real estate industry will be of great benefit to our growing membership in Tennessee.”
Aertker has been a member of the ICSC since 1978. She has served on the Board of Trustees, Sustainability Committee and participates in the annual mentoring program.
Aertker joined Dollar General in 2006 and currently serves as the company’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. Aertker’s career in real estate acquisition and development spans over 30 years.
