Dollar General Opened Its 9,000th Store in Fountain Run, Ky. with Fanfare
Discount retailer presented gifts to the community and hosted day of activities at new store
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (July 31, 2010) – Dollar General celebrated the opening of its 9,000th store in Fountain Run, Ky., on Saturday, July 31. The discount retailer’s milestone store, located at 415 Main St., hosted a day of festivities that included a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, fun activities, free food and drinks, prizes and much more!
“Dollar General is excited to return to the state where the first Dollar General opened in 1955 to celebrate our 9,000th store,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “Thank you to all of our customers who have supported us over the years. This is a special opening for Dollar General and I hope you enjoy shopping at the new store.”
The grand opening event kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was attended by Dollar General executives, Mayor Terry Billingsley, State Rep. Jamie Comer and other special guests. During the ceremony, Dollar General presented $9,000 in grants to the following organizations: Allen County Primary Center, Austin Tracy Elementary, Fountain Run 4-H Club, Fountain Run Christian School, Fountain Run First Baptist Church, Fountain Run Volunteer Fire Department, Gamaliel Elementary School and William B. Harlan Memorial Library.
After the ribbon-cutting, shoppers enjoyed special deals and free prizes inside the store. Outside the store, there were many activities for the entire family to enjoy. IndyCar racer and driver of the Dollar General #67 IndyCar Sarah Fisher signed autographs for fans, who also got an up-close view of the Dollar General and Kellogg’s NASCAR show cars. Shoppers registered for a chance to win some big prizes, including a washer and dryer, video camera, DVD player, Grand Ole Opry experience, ladies bicycle and much more.
